PRIVACY POLICY

your trip, your info.

Last updated October 13, 2026

the short version

  • We don’t sell your dataNot to advertisers, not to anyone.
  • Only what the trip needsYour name, email and the trip details you add.
  • Your group sees your tripOnly people invited to a trip can see it.
  • Delete anytimeRemove your account and data from your account page.

1. What we collect

Account info

Your name, email address and profile photo (if you add one) when you create an account or join a trip. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email and photo. Your phone number, so the hosts of your trips can reach you (required on the website, optional in the iPhone app). Anything else you choose to add to your profile: where you live, your traveler type, a fun fact, your Instagram name, and dietary needs or allergies.

Trip info

Everything you add to a trip: trip name, destinations, dates, stays and room assignments, itinerary items, polls and votes, ideas and links, to-dos, Q&A, flight details, RSVPs, budget entries, photos or receipts you upload, photos you add to a trip’s shared album, and the superlatives you add or vote on after a trip. If you block someone, we keep that so their posts stay hidden from you: only you can see who you’ve blocked, and blocking sends us a report so we can look into it.

Payment handles you choose to share

If a host adds a Venmo, Wise or PayPal handle for deposits, it’s shown to people on that trip. Planly doesn’t process these payments and never sees card or bank details.

Messages you send us

Feedback from the Feedback button, and what you write on the Help page: your name, email and message.

Notifications (iPhone app)

If you allow notifications, we keep the address Apple gives your phone so we can tell you about things on your trips: new polls, RSVPs, deposits, questions and messages from your host. That includes reminders about dates you’re part of (an RSVP or deposit deadline, a vote closing, your trip starting). Choose which kinds you get, or mute a trip, in Account → Preferences; turn them all off any time in your iPhone’s Settings.

Usage info

Which pages are visited, counted without cookies and without identifying you, so we can fix bugs and improve things.

2. How we use it

To run your trips

Showing your group the plan, counting votes, splitting costs and keeping track of who’s in and who has paid.

To talk to you

Account emails (like confirming your address or resetting a password), trip reminders you can switch off in Account → Preferences, and replies when you write to us. Questions? Email planlyapp.help@gmail.com.

AI planning

When a host taps “Plan it for me”, the trip’s name, dates, places, stays, existing plans and the notes the host typed are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to draft an itinerary. Nobody’s name or contact details are sent.

Nothing else

We don’t sell your information and we don’t show ads.

3. Who can see your info

Your trip group

People on a trip can see that trip and the names and photos of the others on it. Hosts can see RSVPs, votes and who has marked a deposit as paid. They can also see the profile details you added (where you live, traveler type, fun fact, Instagram name) and the photos in that trip’s shared album. Your phone number, dietary needs, allergies and a “maybe” reason are visible only to you and the hosts of that trip. Hosts’ announcements are shown only to the hosts and the people going (yes or maybe), for 24 hours plus a day as a recap; hosts can see who has seen each one and who sent a heart. If you haven’t answered a trip’s invite a day after joining, we email you one reminder; replying to it goes to that trip’s host, so they see your email address.

Anyone with a trip’s invite link

They can see a preview of the trip: its name, places, dates, stays, plans and costs, plus the first names and photos of the people on it. Only share the link with people you’d invite.

Anyone with a trip’s share link

After a trip, people who went can send friends a share link. It shows the trip’s name, places, stays (name, photo, listing link) and day-by-day plans with their locations, and lets someone copy those into their own trip. It never shows the dates, the people, photos, costs, room assignments or notes. Hosts can switch sharing off in Edit trip, which also turns off links already sent.

Service providers

Companies that help us run Planly: Supabase stores the database, logins and uploaded files (in the United States); Vercel hosts the site and counts page views; Resend sends our emails (like confirming your address); Google handles “Continue with Google” and place search; Apple handles “Continue with Apple” and delivers notifications to the iPhone app; Anthropic drafts itineraries; Have I Been Pwned checks a new password against known data leaks (it receives only a small, anonymous piece of a scrambled version, never the password); and map and place lookups (OpenFreeMap, Photon, OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia and Wikimedia) receive the place you search for or the area of the map you’re viewing. They only use your info to provide their service to us. Some links take you to a partner’s site to check prices or book: hotel links go through Stay22 and tours through Viator. Tapping one sends them the place and, for hotels, your trip’s dates and group size, along with a code that tells them you came from Planly (we may earn a commission). It never includes your name, email or phone number.

When the law requires it

If we receive a valid legal request, or to protect someone’s safety.

4. Keeping & deleting your info

How long we keep it

We keep your info while your account is open. Trips stay available to the group until the host deletes them.

Deleting your account

Go to your account and tap “Delete my account”. That removes your login, name, photo, profile details and phone number right away, takes you and your album photos off every trip, and deletes the trips you host. Costs, ideas and polls you added to other people’s trips stay there without your name, so their records still add up. Can’t sign in? Email planlyapp.help@gmail.com from the address on your account and we’ll delete it for you.

Cookies and your device

We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and short-lived ones for things like the “saved” message after you do something. If you open an invite before making an account, your answers are held on your device until you sign up. No advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Your choices & rights

Access, correct, delete

You can view and edit your info in the app, or ask us for a copy or to delete it.

Where you live matters

Depending on your state or country (for example California or the EU), you may have extra rights. Email us and we’ll help.

6. Kids

Planly isn’t for kids under 13

We don’t knowingly collect info from children under 13. Family trips are welcome, but accounts are for grown-ups.

7. Changes & contact

If this policy changes

We’ll update the date at the top of this page.
